Absolute Scanner AS1

The market-leading 3D laser scanner for portable arm measurement

The Absolute Scanner AS1 is the flagship 3D scanning sensor for Absolute Arm 7-Axis systems. Using cutting-edge blue-laser technology and advanced programming, it combines ‘always-on’ maximum performance with simple usability to deliver high-productivity non-contact 3D measurement. Thanks to a ground-breaking modular cross-platform technology concept, the same scanner unit can be used for both portable measuring arm and laser tracker measurement, without even the need for realignment when switching.

Powered by our innovative SHINE – Systematic High-Intelligence Noise Elimination – technology, the AS1 has no hidden settings that limit speed and scan-line width in order to deliver peak accuracy. The AS1 delivers full performance at all times – maximum frame rate at maximum laser width for maximum productivity. Now high-speed 3D scanning comes without performance degradation on any surface, whatever the finish or material. With an extra-wide and horizontally-oriented laser scan line and fully-automatic exposure settings, 3D digitisation is faster, easier and more accurate with the Absolute Scanner AS1.

Unmounting the AS1 is as simple as flicking a switch, allowing it to be removed for easier touch probing in tight areas, or to be quickly exchanged for an alternative scanner such as the RS-SQUARED Area Scanner. Once detached, the AS1 can even be mounted on another referencing device – the Absolute Positioner AP21 allows the AS1 to be used with an Absolute Tracker system for measurement over larger volumes (up to 60 metres in diameter).

Time to get back to high-performance portable measuring arm laser scanning? The AS1 can be quickly remounted to the arm with no need for a realignment process – thanks to its completely repeatable mounting, you just clip it back in place and continue 3D scanning immediately.

The Absolute Scanner AS1 is the pinnacle of 3D scanner technology for portable measuring arms. The future of 3D scanning is AS1.

Measurement precision
Complete Scanning System Accuracy to within just 43 microns with Absolute Arm measurement.

Low noise, big data
Up to 1.2 million points per second of high-quality measurement data, even when scanning shiny materials that often require spray with other scanners.

High-speed measurement
Digitise large surfaces quickly with data collected at 300 Hz with no need to reduce laser line width or point spacing.

Scan line
The extra-wide mid-range scan line width of 150 millimetres makes digitisation of large parts and surfaces fundamentally faster by covering more surface area with each scan pass.

SHINE performance
The advanced algorithms of our SHINE technology allow you to digitise almost any surface type with the default exposure settings, from glossy black plastic automotive body parts to moulded carbon-fibre components, making high-quality measurement easier than ever with no high-level training required and operator variability eliminated.

Switching between measurement profiles and executing of macros and other software functions is fast and easy direct from the scanner with the Absolute Arm’s OLED touchscreen wrist display.

Light movement
Weighing in at just 400-grams, the AS1 is light and easy to move, minimising the user fatigue that is one of the most common causes of inaccurate and unreliable measurement results.

Visual guidance
A laser-projected range finder helps users measure more accurately and efficiently by helping ensure the scanner is positioned correctly relative to the part being measured.

Modular marvel
The modular concept of the AS1 allows for quick and easy serviceability, as well as device sharing between measurement teams and locations.

Cross-platform compatibility
Fit the AS1 to a handheld Absolute Positioner AP21 unit to measure over large volumes with an Absolute Tracker, or switch to an Absolute Arm 7-Axis for smaller-scale measurement, with no realignment required when switching.

ISO Certification
The full scanning system accuracy of the AS1 and Absolute Arm 7-Axis system is supplied certified according to ISO 10360-8 Annex D, while an AS1 with AP21 unit is specified in line with ISO 10360-10.
